Rural Clinics Services Mental Health Centers were created through a grant application for funding from the Federal Community Mental Health Center Grants established by the Kennedy Administration. In 1978, Rural Services Community Mental Health Centers (RSCMHC) were granted eight years of funding to provide comprehensive education and referral services to individuals of all ages within the 15 rural counties of Nevada. They now work in close coordination with other health and social service agencies. Today Rural Clinics Community Mental Health Centers have eight satellite, four sub-satellite and two itinerant clinics that provide mental health services to more than 4,577 consumers throughout the 76,391 square miles of Nevada with the exception of Washoe County, Clark County, Lincoln County and parts of Nye County. Satellite Clinics provide all services offered by RSCMHC. Sub-satellite clinics offer many of the same services with itinerant Clinics providing services less frequently. Rural Services Community Mental Health Centers continue to provide a comprehensive array of services to the severely mentally ill (SMI adult) and severely emotionally disturbed (SED children) populations. Outpatient counseling (individual, family and group), Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Case Management, Medication Clinic, Residential Supports, and Mental Health Court are provided at our Satellite and Sub-Satellite Clinics. Services are provided Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Services are available for all persons who qualify regardless of ability to pay. Insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, fee and sliding fee scales are accepted. Recent state revenue shortfalls resulted in the consolidation of the office at Dayton.
